To make it easier, I have created sample itineraries that combine the best of the highlands with flexibility for your style of travel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong> <\/strong>7-Day Itinerary: Highlights of Quito &amp; the Highlands<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 1 \u2013 Arrival in Quito<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Arrive, settle in, and take it easy to adjust to the altitude.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evening stroll in the historic center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 2 \u2013 Quito Historic Center &amp; Telef\u00e9rico<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Explore colonial Quito (Plaza Grande, La Compa\u00f1\u00eda, San Francisco).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Afternoon ride on the cable car -Telef\u00e9rico for panoramic views of Quito and  its surroundings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 3 \u2013 Day Trip to Otavalo<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit Otavalo Market, Peguche Waterfall, and Cuicocha Lake.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Return to Quito in the evening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 4 \u2013 Cotopaxi National Park<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit Limpiopungo Lake and hike toward the refuge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overnight in a nearby hacienda..<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 5 \u2013 Quilotoa Lake<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hike down to the crater lake or hike part of the rim trail.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Return to Latacunga or continue to Ba\u00f1os if time allows.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 6 \u2013 Ba\u00f1os de Agua Santa (Optional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adventure activities: waterfalls, zipline, hot springs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If skipping Ba\u00f1os, use this day for a relaxing soak in Papallacta.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 7 \u2013 Return to Quito &amp; Departure<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Last-minute shopping in Quito or a visit to Mitad del Mundo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transfer to airport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Family-Friendly Itinerary (6 Days)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 1 &#8211; Quito (city + Telef\u00e9riQo).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 2 &#8211; Day trip to Mitad del Mundo + Pululahua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 3 &#8211; Otavalo (short visit to market + waterfall)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 4 &#8211; Papallacta hot springs (easy, relaxing). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 5- Cotopaxi (Lake only, avoid strenuous hikes). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 6  Transfer to Quito airport<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>These itineraries are only starting points. The real magic of Ecuador happens when you leave space for the unexpected: a local festival, a conversation with a market vendor, or a sudden rainbow over the Andes.
